Wishing for Simply Be

A lookbook/wishlist for Winter 2016 from Simply Be featuring day and night…

I love Simply Be. They have everything I’ve ever needed: wide fit shoes, a variety of fashion forward brands, regular promotional offers, and the option of a credit account (oops!). I don’t know how I would have evolved as a plus-size shopper if it weren’t for this website. I’ve been able to buy styles I would never pick up on the highstreet, and have the option to send them back for free if it wasn’t meant to be. They have begun to stock vintage/repro brands like Hell Bunny and Voodoo Vixen which is great when their plus-sizes are sold out everywhere else. I feel Simply Be truly helped me relate to more modern fashions, and I always get complimented by friends and strangers alike when I’ve stepped out in something more current.

In my work, a lot of the main fashion websites are blocked due to people online shopping instead of doing work(boo!). This doesn’t bother me so much, as a lot of the plus-size friendly websites are still available! This means I can spend hours browsing through the Simply Be website, constantly keeping up with whats new, and snapping up a deal when a flash promotion occurs. I can’t complain, there are worse ways to spend a shift!

I’ve comprised a lookbook/wishlist of their latest offerings. I’m a sucker for velvet, lace and sparkle, which luckily comes out in force every winter! I’ve picked a variety of outfit needs, beginning with a comfortable festive look.

You want to sparkle and shine, but this look means you don’t have to wrestle yourself into a pair of fat-pants, and your feet won’t hate you the next day. Gold was everywhere last winter, so I love this combination of black and silver. It allows you to wear any lip colour you like, but I would recommend either a dark burgundy or a bright, pure red.

Comfortably Festive

AX Paris Curve Ruffle Front Tunic, £38.00 (up to a UK 26)

Silver Starbust Velvet Leggings, £28.00 (up to a UK 26)

Sole Diva Jewelled Court Shoes, £30.00 (E and EEE fit, up to a UK 9)

Jet Beaded Collar Necklace, £18.00

Joanna Hope Clutch Bag, £35.00

“Red and green should never be seen” Wrong! If you can’t wear these colours for Christmas, when can you? Here’s a sophisticated ‘two fingers up’ to that rule!

Red and Green: Break the Rules!

Glitter Jersey Midi Dress, £45.00 (up to a UK26)

Statement Necklace and Earring set, £20.00

Sole Diva Platform Shoes, £29.00 (E and EEE fit, up to a UK 9)

Alice Black Velvet clutch bag, £20.00

Joanna Hope Faux-Fur Stole, £35.00

There’s a lot of daytime occasions over the next few months, but that doesn’t mean you need to dull down your festive fashion. Here’s a daytime look that’s both warm and cosy. How about a mulled wine at the Christmas Markets? Or just finishing up your Christmas shopping? Maybe even a pantomime! PS. That super snuggly cardi has a hood for the emergency dash between Debenhams and McDonalds!

Warm, Cosy, Cool

Ribbed Jersey Swing Dress in Olive, £20.00 (up to a UK 32)

Black Popcorn Cardigan, £30.00 (up to a UK 32)

Two pack of Supersoft Woolly Tights, £12.00 (up to a UK 26)

Leopard Print Scarf, £16.00

Lola Bowler Bag, £20.00

Sole Diva Silver Chelsea Boots, £40.00 (E and EEE fit, up to a UK 9)

If you only ever stick to black, this might be the look for you. I know this term is well overused, but a ‘pop of colour’ could be just what you need to catch everyone’s eye and dazzle this season. Here’s a formal look where I’ve used a pair of flats, we’re not all cut out for heels! Think snowflakes and twinkly stars, here’s my take on a blue Christmas:

Cool Yule

AX Paris Curve Wrap Front Body, £32.00 (up to a UK 26)

Mood Blue Loop Chandelier Earrings, £12.00

Embellished Clutch Bag, £25.00

Finally, if you’re lucky enough to be invited to a proper party this season, here’s the showstopper! We all deserve an excuse to go all-out and feel like a million bucks, even if it is only once a year. Go get your hair and make-up done professionally, and treat yourself. Party like Gatsby!

The Showstopper

Joanna Hope Velour Dress in Berry, £65.00 (up to a UK 32)

Beaded Cape, £40.00

Tortoise Shell Box Bag, £20.00

Sole Diva Tie Sandles, £38.00 (E and EEE fit, up to a UK 9)

And that’s my take from Simply Be over the festive period. I hope you’ve found something in these looks you like! Check out Simply Be’s Christmas Shop for more treats and inspiration!
