Who has that item in their wardrobe they rely on? Something you know you can chuck on for a date/night out/gig/show/birthday meal and you know you won’t feel like crap in it? I call these my old reliables. Recently, my old reliable has been this ASOS Curve jumpsuit, purchased after seeing Fuller Figure Fuller Bust rocking it. Its flattering, comfortable, easy to match accessories to, and suits my style. Worn here with the wrong bra, a shiny face and no shapewear:
I think I’ve been relying on my old reliable a little too much however, as I’ve not really worn anything else for any occasions since New Year. This week, that changed…
First of all, I have to mention how much I loved Liverpool! I went on Wednesday with my work-wife Rio, we had matinée tickets to see the incredible Sheridan Smith in Funny Girl, and had planned to get dressed up and hit the town that evening. We stayed on Bold Street, in a really lovely apartment which we got for the bargain price of £50.00 for the night.
Bold street is full of gorgeous restaurants and coffee houses, so we were spoilt for choice when we went to choose lunch. We settled on Bakchich, and boy I’m glad we did! As I’m now pescaterian, Rio was kind enough to go veggie for this meal also, so we could swap with each other and not miss out. For starters, we ordered the trio of dips, including Baba Ghanoush, my favourite! This was followed by the Lebanese Moussakka and the Bourkouri Halloumi. Absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try more from the colourful and unique menu!
After the show, we headed back to the apartment to get glammed up. A magnum (or two) of Aldi prosecco later, we were ready to see what Liverpool made of us! I gave Rio a proper pamper and she got genuinely emotional seeing herself glammed up. She looked stunning and I’m so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone. And look at that blending!!!
I’ve had this Chrissy dress from Pink Clove for some time now, but it’s never had a proper outing. Pink Clove still stock this bad boy, and it’s also available in red! It’s available in sizes UK 18 to UK 28.
This smooth velvet material was the perfect thickness for tottering around Liverpool. I bought this dress in a UK 24 and I’m glad I did, as it isn’t too clingy and doesn’t ride up, whereas I feel a 22 may have been on the wrong side of ‘tight’around my belly. I teamed it with my ever-faithful Gok Wan for Tu control shorts which stop my thighs from getting too intimate with each other, and smooth me all the way up to my bra.
Finally, I added my cute black sequin cat ears and pastel pink feather tassel earrings. The shoes I’ll mention in my next post! Unfortunately, I didn’t get any other clear pictures of this dress, but I did get some damn sexy selfies!
Rio looked like an absolute fox, wearing this gorgeous pink velvet kimono sleeve number from Simply Be. After getting the scenic tour of Liverpool’s bars from her dad, we settled down for some cocktails in Concert Square, which I can imagine is a great night out in summer, full of outdoor seating and music from every angle. Following this with an impromptu jaunt up to Chinatown, then returning to the apartment with an indian, I was ready for bed! I documented our bedtime on a hilarious Facebook live video, but unfortunately I missed a very obvious nip-slip before I posted it on my wall. Needless to say it is now private, and NSFW!
We soaked up our hangover with a decent coffee and a Wetherspoons breakfast, before terrorizing Liverpool City Centre with our less-than-fresh faces… do you think we should have bought these hats?
I know, sex on legs…
Tune in for my next post where I reveal another Little Black Dress by Lavish Alice Curve…
