(not so) LBD: Lavish Alice

I’ve already shown off one of my LBD’s this week in this post about Liverpool. Here’s LBD number two!

Have you heard of Lavish Alice before? If you’re not plus-size (ie. under a UK size 16), you will already be able to shop their gorgeous range of dresses, jumpsuits, separates, accessories, and shoes. Their current collection has incredible pleated details, origami influences, and wearable pastel hues. Loved by models, celebrities, and fellow designers, Lavish Alice are a popular and sought-after brand. Sadly, their main range on the website only goes up to a UK 16.

Thankfully, Lavish Alice created a limited Curve range, which has been available on Simply Be, ASOS and Very/Littlewoods in the past. Personally, I would never have come across this gorgeous brand if it weren’t for Simply Be. I had spotted the Lavish Alice Fringe Sleeve Midi Dress on their website before, but always thought it looked like my lumps and bumps would be drastically highlighted. However, that dramatic fringing got the better of me,  and I ordered it in the January sales…

I feel like an absolute fox in this dress. It’s outing was a well planned night out with my beautiful friend Denver, and I’m so glad she encouraged me to wear it. I’m not gonna lie, I was worried I’d get too tipsy and accidentally dip the tassels in the toilet, but I came up with a cunning solution of tying them up in front of my breasts when I went to the powder room!

As you can see, this dress is a great length on my 5’11” frame, sitting just above the knee. If you’re not as tall as me, it would be extremely easy to shorten, and you could even snip the fringing and singe the ends with a lighter to avoid fraying.

I consciously made sure I put my arms through the front of the fringing for most of the night, making sure it didn’t get tangled in my bag or wipe along the bar. This also made it look like more of a cute cape feature!

I think by now you can tell I was really feeling my oats… but don’t worry, Denver made sure I didn’t stay too fierce for long.

I found the fabric to be the perfect thickness, it sat perfectly over my faithful Gok Wan for Tu shorts and assisted in the overall smooth silhouette. There’s a well structured bodice which did not gape at the armpit like most stretchy fabric does due to my boobs. The waist is constructed smoothly and sat perfectly on my own natural waist, which is rare for my length of body. I’m used to ‘waistbands’ sitting neatly under my boobs!

The back of the dress made me feel confident in my curves, with a gorgeous visible silver zip. I really love this dress from all angles, and it’s certainly no boring little black dress!

I teamed it with my new favourite heels. I’d already spent a night in Liverpool wearing them, and I knew they would be just as comfortable for Preston’s cocktail bars. They are part of Simply Be’s new season collection, and are the comfiest heels I’ve ever owned. Baby pink seems to match a variety of outfits, and I’m a sucker for velvet (I feel like I say that in every single one of my blog posts!) but you can also get them in a matte black. Available in E or EEE width, UK size 4 – 9, and an absolute bargain at £29.00. What are you waiting for?!

Denver is the Queen of pre-drinks. Her lovely boyfriend helped her install a bar in their flat, and it’s been the source of many a dodgy drinking game…

Yep. It’s always a party! I did Dennie’s hair and makeup, and we scrubbed up well, don’t you think? I do look like her proud mother though…

Little and Large

We had a lovely night in the cocktail bars, taking advantage of good lighting and feeling very lady-like and glamorous with our martinis and daiquiris. It’s better than a malibu and coke in a plastic glass after all…

I loved every second of wearing this Lavish Alice dress, and I hope to see more Curve collections in the future. For now, I know I have another killer LBD in my wardrobe for the next appropriate occasion. The price of this on the outlet section of the website is currently £37.00, which is a bargain compared to their full price items. It’s still available in UK sizes 12 – 24, and I would say personally they are true to size, as I was very comfortable in this UK 22. Let me know if you decide to nab it at this great price!
