An ASOS bargain and some home-made earrings…
It will come as no surprise to those that read my blog that I love jumpsuits. I feel comfortable, sexy, and fabulous in them! I always tend to size up, as I’m long in the body and don’t want a camel-toe situation, and this method has worked well for me so far. I’m also a sucker for a plain-ish jumpsuit, as the level of accessorizing is almost unlimited. You can add a statement belt, pop of colour, flats, heels, necklaces, earrings or even a hat and completely transform the simple jumpsuit.
Another plus? I feel I don’t have to take a jacket out with me if I’m wearing a jumpsuit, as it covers more of the body than most dresses. This saves money on cloakrooms and there’s less of a chance of you leaving things behind! Chub-rub is a constant worry for me and I’ll wear anti-chafing shorts or bandalettes under any skirts or dresses. The bonus about jumpsuits is that they eliminate this problem!
So, like most fashionistas, I recently received the ever-tempting email announcing the ASOS Sale. I can’t help it, the advertising was strong and I took a peek. I set myself a budget: no impulse buys for any items over £20.00. I’d just received my bonus so I was lucky enough to have some pennies to play with.
Well I got about 2 pages into the Curve section before I found this beauty.
It’s still available in black and burgundy for a reasonable £28.00, but I found this gorgeous rusty red version for £12.00, and ONE left in a 24! Bargain! The clouds parted, angels singing, etc. etc. It was clearly meant to be.
Last year at The Curve Fashion Festival I received this lovely tassel necklace from Simply Be in my VIP Goody Bag.
The thing is, the choker style is not for me, and the tassels just gathered in my cleavage, ruining the effect of the design. I knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted to turn the two long red tassels into statement earrings, and I finally got round to it after seeing how good a match they are to this jumpsuit!
We’ve had a surprisingly sunny week in the North West of England, and yesterday was no different. I spent my Sunday cleaning up the back yard, getting rid of the weeds and planning to add some colour at some point. It seemed perfect timing to get my camera stand out and get snapping in the late afternoon breeze!
Boom! I styled it with some old faithful Simply Be black and gold heels. I wanted to keep the accessories to a minimum and let the earrings do the talking, so I even avoided putting something in my hair (Shock! Horror!) which is virtually unheard of for me!
The thick elastic waist band is strong enough to cinch me in a little, making my figure seem a lot more hourglass than usual. I love it! The pleated detail from the waist band gives the trousers a nice harem-pants look, and is very comfortable around the tummy area.
POCKETS! That is all.
This is my least favourite angle, but I thought it only fair you see this side of me. Like I said, I love the way the material drapes over the tummy, and that thick waist band sits just right on my ol’ back rolls!
I think you’ll agree these earrings are a perfect match. I couldn’t be happier with them! I literally just took a pair of pliers to a set of old dangle earrings then whacked on the tassels from the necklace. Voila! You can do it too!
I noticed that I smile with my mouth closed in so many pictures, so I thought I’d show you my pearly whites (which I’m incredibly proud of, 27 years old and no fillings!).
To finish the look, I crafted a gold and rusty-red smokey eye with elongated liquid liner and a spot of red iridescent glitter. My lipstick is an old New Look Pure Colour liquid lip in ‘Burgundy’, but I would heartily recommend their latest beauty range. I’m wearing the Kat Von D Lock-It foundation in these pictures, and the coverage is out-of-this-world. I currently have a lot of hormonal breakouts and don’t know what I would do without this full-coverage miracle!
Well guys, do I look like a real fashion blogger yet?! Just to ruin the illusion, here’s another addition:
Ahh, that’s better.
Thank you for taking the time to see me prance and pose while feeling fancy! Who else has a new found love for jumpsuits? And what colours are you excited to wear this spring? Let me know what you think of this look!
